Kumho Tyre has again been chosen by global automotive giant, Volkswagen Group to be the original equipment (OE) tyre supplier on two of its new models from two of its leading brands.
The Kumho Ecsta PS71 has been chosen by Volkswagen Group as the OE fit tyre for both the new
Volkswagen Tiguan and the
Cupra Terramar compact sports SUVs.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan and the Cupra Terramar are both based on Volkswagen Group's latest
MQB Evo platform.
The Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the Group’s most popular models, boasting strong agility, fuel efficiency, and enhanced safety. It will be fitted with two sizes of the Kumho Ecsta PS71, including the 215/65 R17 and 235/55 R18.
The Terramar is a key vehicle in the Cupra’s expanding lineup, featuring a sporty design that combines hybrid technology and practicality, and is the latest SUV in the stable of Volkswagen’s Spanish subsidiary Cupra. It will be fitted with Kumho’s premium Ecsta PS71 SUV sports tyre in 235/55 R18 size.
Kumho’s Ecsta PS71 sports tyre has been designed and engineered with structural reinforcements tailored to the characteristics of sports SUV such as the Tiguan and Terramar.
The Kumho PS71 tyre maximises contact area, which enhances braking performance and fuel efficiency, and has been optimised to deliver exceptional handling and braking capabilities on both dry and wet surfaces.
The Kumho Ecsta PS71 lineup includes a wide range of sizes and configurations to suit SUVs and passenger cars and also for many types of electric vehicles.
“We are excited to supply tires for both the Tiguan and the Terramar, which will both be key vehicles in the compact SUV market,” said Kim In-soo, Kumho Tyre’s head of sales division for OE.
“We plan to leverage our technological expertise in larger, high-performance tyres to further expand our supply capabilities,” he added
Kumho also recently announced it has begun supplying OE tyres for the Volkswagen
T7 Transporter range, the Volkswagen
Passat and the Škoda
Superb from Volkswagen’s Czech subsidiary Skoda.
The company has been strengthening its strategic partnerships with global automakers, and its supply of tyres to major car manufactures is a testament to its technological capabilities and its increasing status as a premium tyre brand.
